I recently completed my first study of a nude life model (First since those life drawing classes at college anyroad). I painted Alison on a one to one basis in my studio, she is a great professional model, skilled and personable making for a relaxing atmosphere to study. I will be doing a series of life paintings with Alison later in the year.http://www.life-model.co.uk/

Arthur is the dog who shares my studio and keeps me company. Due to long periods locked away in solitude confinement it is nice to have a companion to glare intensely at me whilst I’m eating my lunch! Five years ago my wife and I fell in love with a scruffy old dog we discovered unwanted at the RSPCA in Sheffield, his previous owner had died leaving the twelve year old terrier to spend the rest of his days in the pound. Until we came along. He lasted eighteen months. As soon as he passed and in a state of thick palpable grief I sought out his breed and got me a crazy puppy with a penchant for shredding the post and rolling in effluent. So, now he comes to work with me every day, he goes to the shops with me and even to the pub, I can’t get rid of him.

This is my first entry on my brand new website….

Well, the first bit of news is that I have a date for my fourth solo show at Cadogan Contemporary gallery - the 8th June 2010, running for three weeks. Better get working!

Just sold the diptych which is on the home page, ‘Last Bridge to Arnhem’. I’d always wanted to tackle a diptych and a domestic scene of an old couple had been playing on my mind for sometime. I liked the idea of an old married couple being together yet apart in the same piece. It was inspired by two neighbours of mine coupled with the memory of me own folks. I love the fact that when I showed it to my two year old she shouted “Grandma and Grandad!” even though they look absolutely nothing like her Grandma and Grandad, an epitome.
